Reported distances: 37.8 miles for 1969, 37.4 miles for 1971, 37 miles for 1972, and 37.4 miles for 1974-75. A new route was used from 1978 that was reported to have been 40 miles. Thru 1984, the course was point-to-point from Woodford to Southend. The 1985 race was run from Woodford to Canvey Island. Races from 1986 thru 1991 were run on an out-and-back course from Woodford.
